Celebrating our Interns on National Intern Day

0

It’s National Intern Day! Created by WayUp, National Intern Day is a holiday dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the future leaders of the world: Interns. At SAS, we feel like every day should be Intern Day, but #NationalnternDay presents a unique opportunity to celebrate the value interns bring to our company.

This year’s National Intern Day is even more special here at SAS because it marks our first-ever virtual internship program! When we first transitioned to remote work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were many unknowns. Would we have to cancel our internship program? What would a virtual internship program look like? Could we flip a year’s worth of programming to virtual in just a few weeks?

It took a lot of creativity and collaboration (S/O to our SAS hardware team and mailing center for sending out laptops and swag packs!), but we were thrilled to welcome our 100+ interns from around the country – virtually.

So, what’s a virtual internship like? We think it’s awesome! But don’t take our word for it – hear it from the source:

“The main takeaway from my internship experience at SAS must be the wealth of knowledge and experience I've gained by working closely with my team. As an intern at SAS, I was given a project, some basic tools to get started, and then I was allowed to run free and rise to the occasion to tackle the project on my own." – Lindy Bustabad

“Your Curiosity Matters. It's just a motto, right? But here at SAS, it actually matters. It's a theme that I see in every single person that I come into contact with. Whether it be my peers, my virtual mentor, or my direct supervisor - people are always willing to satisfy my curiosity.” – Brian Chan

"If I had to think about what I love the most about SAS, it would have to be between the people and the meaningful work. I'm very grateful that even during this virtual experience, I'm still being assigned meaningful work, contributing, and making an impact on the company." – Falesha Brodie

"SAS has supported me in my virtual internship experience this summer by providing a lot of opportunities to grow both as an individual and as a professional. I've had a lot of fun being able to train in various SAS products, including the components of the VIYA platform.” – Anisha Gupta

Thank you, interns – for your dedication, your resilience, and your endless curiosity. We’re always excited when you transition from college to career and choose to start your journey at SAS! You’re the future of our company, and SAS just wouldn’t be the same without you!
